Forrest Named GPAC Pitcher of the Week
Doane Baseball pitcher Aaron Forrest picked up a win in game one of Doane's series with Park University on Sunday and that performance has tabbed him for this week's Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. This is the first time that Forrest has received the honor.
Forrest took a no-hitter into the fifth inning on Sunday as he had faced the minimum number of batters through four innings of work. The Pirates picked up two hits and a run in the fifth but would be limited to three more hits the rest of the way.
Forrest struck out eight batters, three looking, in a seven-inning complete game victory. He allowed one run on five hits and did not allow a walk in the game.
With the victory, Forrest improved to 3-1 on the season in four starts. His last two outings have seen him go 12 innings, striking out 15 with zero walks allowed.
Doane is next scheduled to take the field on March 14 when the Tigers are set to host McPherson (Kan.) at 1 PM in a doubleheader.
