Baseball Edged Out in Doubleheader

Baseball traveled to Seward on Tuesday to play their makeup games with No. 17 Concordia. With the wind gust blowing over 30 miles per hour throughout the games, plenty of runs were put up by both teams. In the end, the Bulldogs edged the Tigers in both games, 14-13 and 7-6.

Doane had eight hits in the opening game with two coming from Narumi Okayasu. He, along with Carson Baker, led the team with three runs scored. Logan Amick and Joe Osborn scored two runs apiece. Osborn drove in three runs with a home run. Dane Kelsey had two RBI on a home run. Justin Nevells added two RBI as well, including one on a solo home run.

Aaron Forrest started for the Tigers on short rest and threw 3.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out three. Ethan Merk went 0.1 inning, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks. Kyler Beekman threw 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Kaden Crawford threw the final 2.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out two.

In game two, the Tigers finished with nine hits including two hits apiece from Osborn, Nevells, and Brayden Jones. Jones had a team-leading two RBI in the game. Okayasu and Baker led the team with two runs scored apiece.

Isaiah Miller made his first collegiate start and threw 5.0 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks while striking out five. Raidyn Steele threw the final 1.0 inning, walking one and striking out two.

Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Orange City, Iowa, to take on Northwestern on Friday, April 5, at 1 PM.
