Baseball Wins Series with Clarke for Tenth Victory of Season

Baseball jumped out early in the final game of their series with Clarke and posted a 3-1 victory. The Tigers improved their overall record to 10-2 on the season.

In the bottom of the first inning, Doane posted two runs after a 20 minute delay on a rule interpretation protest. The Tigers came away from the situation with the bases loaded and no outs. Max Harris followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Logan Amick and Taiyo Takahashi drove in Justin Nevells with an RBI-groundout.

In the second inning, Dane Kelsey scored on a passed ball to give Doane a 3-0 lead. Clarke's lone run of the game came in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice as the throw to home plate was late.

Riley Plummer made his second start and had a perfect game through three innings. Clarke managed to break up the effort in the fourth inning and Plummer would go on to post 6.0 innings of work. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out three. Nicolas Yard picked up his third save as he threw a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.

Doane posted seven hits in the game, two from Amick. Dane Kelsey had a double for the only extra base hit in the game. Harris and Carson Baker each recorded a steal.

Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Joliet, Illinois, where the Tigers will play a three-game set with St. Francis.
