Baseball Drops Series Opener to Hastings
Baseball opened a four-game series with Hastings on Friday afternoon in Crete. The Broncos and Tigers battled in a low scoring contest with the visitors winning, 3-1.
Hastings scored the first run of the game in the 2nd inning on a one-out double. They added two runs in the fourth inning on a single to take a 3-0 lead. Doane scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Justin Nevells.
Kaden Crawrford started and went 4.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six. Raidyn Steele threw 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three.
Doane posted eight hits in the game but was held to 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Sam Kwapnioski was 3-for-4 for the Tigers while five other players had one hit apiece. Nevells had the only extra base hit in the game for Doane.
