Spring Sports NAIA Scholar-Athletes Announced
CRETE, Neb. - Doane student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom and in competition during the 2025-26 academic year as a large group of Tigers earned recognition as 2026 NAIA Scholar-Athletes for spring sports.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 2026 NAIA Scholar-Athletes for spring sports, honoring student-athletes who have excelled academically in baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track & field and other spring sports. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport and attend their institution for at least one full year.
Doane was among the national leaders in scholar-athlete recognition, joining Dordt (Iowa), Marian (Ind.) and Concordia (Neb.) as institutions with near or above 95 spring scholar-athlete honorees. The Tigers had 98 scholar-athletes for the spring season. The Great Plains Athletic Conference also ranked among the national leaders with 683 scholar-athletes recognized across spring sports.

Nationally, baseball led all spring sports with 1,333 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, followed by women's track & field (1,219), softball (1,199) and men's track & field (1,029), underscoring the strong academic commitment shown across NAIA athletics.
