Roth Named First Team NAIA All-American

CRETE, Neb. – Doane University second baseman Carter Roth has been named a First Team NAIA All-American, becoming the first player in program history to earn First Team All-America recognition from the NAIA.

The senior capped one of the greatest individual seasons in Doane Baseball history, helping lead the Tigers to a record-breaking campaign and a trip to the NAIA World Series while establishing himself as one of the nation's premier players.

Roth was the centerpiece of the Doane offense throughout the 2026 season, starting all 58 games and batting .455. He finished the year with 111 hits, 76 runs scored, 22 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 74 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. His 111 hits led the NAIA and made him one of only five players nationally to eclipse the 100-hit mark during the season.

His remarkable season rewrote the Doane record book. Roth set new program single-season records for at-bats (244), runs scored (76), hits (111), doubles (22), runs batted in (74) and total bases (175). He also tied the school records for games played and games started in a season with 58.

Among his many standout performances, Roth recorded a career-high five hits against Dakota Wesleyan on March 27 and blasted two home runs in a game at Baker (Kan.) on March 7. He also drove in a career-best five runs on two separate occasions, including a performance against Dordt on April 24 and another against Dakota Wesleyan.

Roth's offensive production was matched by his consistency. He reached base at a .496 clip and posted a .717 slugging percentage while striking out just 14 times in 244 at-bats. He finished among the top performers in the NAIA in multiple offensive categories and proved to be one of the most difficult hitters in the country to retire.

The First Team All-America selection adds to an extensive list of honors earned during Roth's historic senior season. Earlier this spring, he was named First Team All-GPAC and became the first player in Doane history to lead the NAIA in hits for a season.

In just two years wearing a Tiger uniform, Roth established himself among the program's all-time greats. Through 87 career games, he posted a .438 batting average with 138 hits, 91 runs scored, 27 doubles, 12 home runs, 85 RBIs and 23 stolen bases.

Roth becomes the first player in Doane Baseball history to earn First Team NAIA All-America honors, adding another milestone to a season that rewrote the Tiger record book. His 2026 campaign ranks among the finest individual seasons ever produced by a Tiger and helped elevate Doane onto the national stage while setting a new standard of excellence for the program.
