Kuenle, Cooney Earn CoSIDA Academic Honor
Doane Athletics is proud to announce two student-athletes have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 team for their respective sports. Allison Kuenle (SR/North Platte, Neb.) was a First Team selection in volleyball and Bryce Cooney (SR/Omaha, Neb.) received the same honor in football.
Kuenle helped lead the Tigers to a 6th place finish in the GPAC this year and a 17-13 overall record. She finished the year with a team-high 434 kills (3.91/set), 345 digs, 64 blocks, 26 ace serves, and 26 set assists. Kuenle is currently ranked No. 22 in the NAIA in kills per set with the post-season still underway. She wraps up her Doane career (3 years) with 1,310 kills, 1,072 digs, and 179 blocks.
Cooney and the Tiger Football team finished with a 4-7 record this season. A placekicker for the Tigers, he finished the year with a team-high 40 points. Cooney made 7-of-13 field goals tries and was 19-of-20 on point after tries (PAT). For his career, he made 25-of-41 field goal attempts with a career-long of 51 yards. He also averaged 56.7 yards per kickoff, covering 11,624 yards on 205 kickoffs.
Both student-athletes will advance for consideration for the CoSIDA Academic All-American honor. The award will be announced in mid-December for both sports.
