Martinsen Earns NAIA and GPAC Player of the Week Honors

Ty Martinsen, a senior linebacker from Cedar Rapids, Neb., has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against Hastings on November 11. 

Named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, Martinsen had a career day over the weekend. He posted 14 tackles, including 10 solo tackles, picked up 2.5 tackles for loss, and a solo sack - all career highs. Additionally, he forced two fumbles which matched his career total, and recorded his first career interception.

Martinsen helped lift the Tigers to a 20-15 win over Hastings as Doane closed the season on Saturday afternoon in Crete.
