Meyer Receives GPAC Special Teams Player of the Week Honor

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced the football players of the week for Week 3 of the season on Monday. Doane's Kelen Meyer was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance in Doane's 26-7 win over Waldorf on Saturday. This marks the third time that Meyer has received the honor in his career.

On Saturday evening, Meyer converted a pair of first half field goals for the Tigers. His first field game came early in the second quarter from 38 yards out. With 4:04 left in the quarter, Meyer added a 23-yard field goal to give Doane a 12-0 lead. Doane scored one last time in the second quarter with Meyer converting the extra point and the Tigers scored on their opening possession of the third quarter with Meyer again converting the extra point.

For the game, Meyer was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on extra points. He also placed five of his six kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.

Doane travels to Sioux City this week to take on Morningside at 1 PM on September 21.
