Coach Virnel Moon joined the Tigers' coaching staff in January 2025. He will serve as wide receivers coach for Doane.

Moon comes to Doane from Hampden-Sydney College, Va., (2024) where he served as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator. Prior to his stop in Virginia, he was wide receivers and kick/punt return coach at Western Colorado University (2023), and Fort Lewis College, Colo., (2022). Moon was a graduate assistant/wide receivers coach at Southwest Minnesota State (2021) and wide receivers coach at Grossmont College, Calif., (2019).

He played collegiately at Colorado Mesa University from 2013-17 where he earned Second Team CCA All-American honors as a return specialist in 2017. He played for three conference championship teams and earned a bachelor's degree in sports management. In 2018, he was invited to the Cincinnati Bengals rookie mini-camp.
