Men's Basketball Tabbed Seventh in the GPAC

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the men's basketball preseason coaches' poll for the 2023-24 season. The Doane Men's Basketball team has been picked to finish seventh this coming year.

The Tigers are coming off an 11-17 season and an 8-12 mark in GPAC play in 2022-23, finishing in a tie for 7th in the conference standings. Doane missed out on the conference tournament based on a three-team tie-breaker.

Returning is First Team All-GPAC selection Brady Timm. He averaged 20.3 points per game, shooting 46.9-percent from the field last year as the only player to start every game. Cooper Sheldon started 27 games last year and averaged 7.1 points per game and 6.1 rebounds. Doane will also get a boost with the return of 2021-22 First Team All-GPAC selection Josiah Gardiner after he missed last year with an injury. Two seasons ago, he led Doane with 15.3 points while adding 5.9 rebounds and shooting 65.3-percent from the field.

The season opens on October 26 as the Tigers play host to Union (Neb.) at 7 PM.
