Men's Basketball went on the road on Saturday evening and picked up an 80-75 win over York. The Tigers improved to 2-1 on the season with the victory.
The Panthers jumped out to an 8-2 lead to open the game and led through much of the opening 13 minutes of play. A jumper by Josiah Gardiner with 6:55 to play in the opening half gave Doane a 23-22 lead, one they would not relinquish. The basket started a 7-0 run and the Tigers would lead 42-34 at halftime.
Doane's largest lead of the game was 11 points, hit twice in the game. With 8:09 to play in the game, Guy Moran hit a 3-point basket to give the Tigers a 69-58 lead. Moran would hit five 3-point baskets in the game and finished with a career-high 17 points.
Joining Moran in double figures were Cooper Sheldon and Nick Saiz with 15 points apiece. Sheldon posted his second straight double-double as he led the way with 10 rebounds. Brady Timm had a team-high seven assists with Sheldon adding six.
The Tigers will travel to Omaha on Monday, November 6, to take on Nebraska-Omaha at 7:30 PM in an exhibition game. Doane will then play at home on November 8 against Peru State at 7:00 PM.
