Dordt Pulls Away from Men's Basketball in Second Half

Men's Basketball dropped a 90-60 decision to Dordt on Saturday afternoon in Crete. A hot second half of shooting for the Defenders allowed the visitors to pull away.

Dordt's largest lead of the first half was 11 points, 33-22, with 6:29 to play. The lead was built off a 14-5 run over a near-six minute span. Doane battled back with an 8-0 run, with five points coming from Brady Timm. The Defenders led 39-35 at the break.

In the second half, Dordt shot 63.3-percent as they slowly expanded their lead. The Defenders would put together a pair of 9-3 runs in the opening seven minutes to push their lead to 15 points, 57-42. A 9-2 run a little later would move the lead to 20 points and they would close the game with a 13-2 run for their largest lead with the final score. Doane was held to 29-percent shooting in the second half.

River Johnston led the Tigers with 14 points and three steals. He was joined by Nick Saiz for the team lead in assists with three apiece. Timm posted 13 points while Cooper Sheldon added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Doane shot 33-percent from the floor for the game, making 6-of-26 from 3-point range.

The Tigers are back home on Wednesday, December 6, for a 7:45 PM tip against Midland.
