Men's Basketball Drops Battle in Iowa

Hot-shooting by Dordt on Saturday aided the Defenders in defeating the Tiger Men's Basketball squad, 108-77, in Sioux Center, Iowa. Dordt shot 66-percent for the game as Doane dropped to 7-14 on the season.

Doane jumped out early with three of the first four made baskets for a 6-3 lead. A 4-0 run by Dordt gave them their first lead only to have River Johnston hit a 3-point basket to put the Tigers back in front, 9-7. The Defenders regained the lead with a 22-4 run. They added a 13-2 run later in the opening half and led 53-30 at the break.

Dordt started the second half with a 14-6 run in the opening three minutes with Caleb Hrabik and Johnston hitting 3-point baskets for the Tigers. The Defenders would extend their lead to 49 points, 99-50, following a 22-5 run with eight minutes to play in the game. Doane finished strong with a 23-6 run in the final 6:12 of game time.

Johnston led the Tigers with 13 points and Cam Binder added 10 points. Matt Adamek recorded eight rebounds to lead Doane. Jack Wilson had a team-high three assists and Brady Timm picked up a team-leading three steals.

Doane will return to action on Friday, February 2, when they host Jamestown at 6:45 PM.
