Men's Basketball closed out their season on Saturday at home against Hastings. The Broncos picked up an 83-70 win over the Tigers as Doane finished the year at 7-21 overall and 2-18 in the GPAC.
The game started with four seniors starting for the Tigers, including Josiah Gardiner. The local product has been unable to play since November but took the court one last time for the jump ball. He was joined by fellow seniors Cooper Sheldon, Guy Moran, and Nick Saiz. Gardiner was replaced by the Tigers' fifth senior Matt Adamek who would score the team's first point of the game. Doane's first eight points were a basket apiece from Adamek, Saiz, Moran, and Sheldon.
At the midway point of the opening half, Hastings led 17-16. The Broncos went on a 16-2 run over the next five minutes. At the half, Hastings led 42-27.
In the second half, the lead was still at 15 points after five minutes of play. A 9-0 Hastings run would extend the lead to 24 points, 64-40, and was their largest of the game. The Tigers were back to within 14 points with four minutes to play following back-to-back 3-point baskets from Moran.
Moran led the Tigers with 16 points, hitting four 3-point baskets. Brady Timm added 14 points and Cooper finished with 10 points. Timm and Cooper led the Tigers with four rebounds apiece and Timm had a team-high five assists.
