Concordia Takes Bulldog-Tiger Cup Away from Men's Golf
Doane Men's Golf traveled to York to take on Concordia (Neb.) in the annual battle between the two teams. In a match play style competition, the Bulldogs won this year's match, 10-8, to win the Bulldog-Tiger Cup. Doane is now 6-3 all-time in the competition.
In the best-ball portion of the competition over the first nine holes, the Bulldogs won four matches while Doane won one. The teams split one match, leaving Concordia with a 4.5-1.5 lead.
Achilleas Lazaridis and Andrew Paquette won their best-ball match, leading by four with two holes to play (4 & 2). Blake Skoumal and Noah Miller finished tied in their match after nine holes.
In one-on-one competition over nine holes, the Tigers won five of the 12 matches with three matches finishing tied. Doane won the one-on-one portion, 6.5-5.5.
Lazaridis won his match, 5 & 3. Julius Rauter was also victorious with a 5 & 3 score. Riley Mitchell claimed a 4 & 3 victory. Josh Spomer picked up a 2 & 1 win. Paquette picked up a victory, 1 UP. Earning a half a point for the team score with ties were Ryan Weiss, Karsten Kern, and Blake Andersen.
Doane will compete at the Northwestern Red Raider Invite on April 17 in Orange City, Iowa. The competition will be hosted at Landsmeer GC.
