Men's Golf Places Third at Mount Marty Invite

YANKTON, SD - Doane Men's Golf opened the 2025-26 campaign on Monday and Tuesday in Yankton, S.D., playing in the Mount Marty Invite. The first day was contested at Hillcrest GC with the second day at Fox Run GC, both Par 72 courses.

The Tiger "A" team placed third with a team score of 595 (299-296). Joshua Wassmer led the way with a 148 (74-74) and tied for eighth. He recorded the team's only eagle of the tournament on Tuesday. Matthew McConkey tied for 11th with a 149 (75-74). Tying for 20th were Toby Knevett and Carson Kildow with scores of 151. Knevett had the best round of the tournament for the Tigers with an even-par, 72, on Tuesday. Brock Heusinkvelt tied for 26th with a 152 (76-76).

The "B" team placed seventh with a 607 (310-297). Jax Loh and Cauy Walters tied for 20th with scores of 151. Walters led the Tigers with seven birdies in the two rounds. Ben Kottmeyer tied for 26th with a 152 (79-73). Embree Stutsman tied for 35th with a 155 (80-75) and Jarett Moriarity tied for 47th with a 158 (78-80). Stutsman and Moriarity matched McConkey with a team-leading 24 pars in the tournament.

In total, 76 golfers participated with 14 team scores calculated. Morningside was the team champion with a 585 while Connor Calahan of Dakota Wesleyan was the medalist with a 141.

Next up for the Tigers will be the Blue River Classic, co-hosted with Concordia, on September 3-4 at Highlands GC in Lincoln.
