Men's Golf Competes at Lark Invitational

ANDOVER, Kan. – The Doane men's golf team turned in a strong showing at The Lark Invitational on April 6-7, finishing fourth in a 14-team field at Terradyne Country Club.

The Tigers posted a 54-hole total of 895 with rounds of 298, 300 and 297, finishing just 14 strokes off the tournament lead. Texas A&M-San Antonio won the event at 881, followed by Seminole State (Okla.) at 883 and Columbia (Mo.) at 886.

Doane was led by Heidar Bjarnason, who tied for fourth individually with a three-round total of 218. Bjarnason opened the tournament with a 72, followed with a 71 in the second round and closed with a 75 to finish among the top five.

Ben Kottmeyer and Embree Stutsman each earned top-20 finishes for the Tigers, tying for 18th at 225. Kottmeyer improved each round with scores of 79, 74 and 72, while Stutsman carded rounds of 72, 76 and 77.

Carson Kildow finished tied for 25th overall with a 227 after rounds of 73, 79 and 75. Cauy Walters added a tie for 32nd at 231 on rounds of 74, 78 and 79, while Josh Wassmer placed tied for 42nd with a 233 after shooting 81, 77 and 75.

Competing individually for Doane, Jaime Pala tied for 45th with a 234 after rounds of 82, 75 and 77, while Jax Loh tied for 51st at 235 with rounds of 73, 81 and 81. Embree Stutsman also competed as an individual in the field.

Doane's final-round 297 was its best team score of the tournament and helped the Tigers secure their fourth-place finish against a solid field that included nationally ranked junior college teams Seminole State and Crowder.
