Men's Soccer Ties Spires in Kansas

Men's Soccer (1-1-1) jumped out to an early lead at Saint Mary (Kan.) but would finish with a 2-2 tie. Three of the game's goals were scored in the opening half with the Spires tying the game in the second half.

Doane's first goal of the game came off the foot of Ameer Madden. He outran the defense to chase down a loose ball and then fired a shot across his body past the keeper for a 1-0 lead in the 19'. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the 24' as Hugo Santos scored on a free kick.

Saint Mary cut the lead in half with a goal headed in by Isha Hughan off a corner kick in the 36' of play. In the second half, the Spires tied the game in the 62' on a goal from Matias Allou off a crossing pass. Doane was playing down a man at the time of the tying goal.

Samuel Montanez recorded seven saves for the Tigers in goal. Angel Jacinto had three saves for Saint Mary.

Doane will return to action on Wednesday, August 28, with a home contest against York at 8:45 PM.
