Men's Soccer Ties Jamestown in Non-Conference Battle

Men's Soccer hosted Jamestown on Saturday afternoon in Crete. Much like the last three meetings, the game came down to the wire. This year's match-up ended in a 2-2 tie, the third tie in the last four meetings.

Jamestown scored early with their front line speed catching the Tigers off-guard. In the 3', Alejandro Tocino Vidal scored to put the Jimmies in front. Doane tied the game before the halftime break as Guillem Colom scored off a pass from Ameer Madden in the 43' of action. Jamestown out-shot the Tigers in the opening half, 7-3.

Doane went in front in the 57' as Madden scored the go-ahead goal off a pass from Nicolas Jones. In the 74', Tiger keeper Samuel Montanez was called for an illegal touch of the ball outside the box, leading to the team playing a man down. On the restart, Jamestown's shot attempt was saved by Curtis Oberg, however, the Jimmies were able to pick up the rebound and score to tie the game. Ben Brake scored the tying goal. Jamestown out-shot the Tigers in the half, 11-3, to give them an 18-6 advantage for the game.

The Tigers are back in action at home on Wednesday, September 18, as they begin conference play. Doane will take on Briar Cliff at 7:15 PM.
