Second Half Dordt Surge Downs Men's Soccer

Men's Soccer traveled to Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Dordt. The teams were tied at the half but the host Defenders doubled up their goal total in the second half and posted a 4-2 win over Doane.

The teams matched goal for goal in the first half. The Defenders struck first in the 11' on a goal from Phil Appelt. Doane answered with Ameer Madden tying the game in the 22' off a pass from Hugo Santos. Dordt went back in front in the 37' on a goal from Nolan Karel. The Tigers tied the game in the 39' on a penalty kick goal from Guillem Colom.

In the second half, Dordt regained the lead in the 53' on a goal from Appelt. They added an insurance goal in the 58' off the foot of Marco Laenen.

Dordt held a 14-11 edge in shot attempts. Samuel Montanez posted four saves in goal for the Tigers.

Doane will be back at home on Saturday, October 12, as they host Dakota Wesleyan at 5:15 PM.
