Men's Tennis Blanks Saint Mary (KS)

Doane Men's Tennis opened the spring season on Saturday as they took on Saint Mary (Kan.) in Fremont at the YMCA. The Tigers posted a 7-0 victory over the Spires.

Saint Mary was open at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. In doubles action, the Tigers swept to pick up the first point. Jorge Chevez and Jose Purizaca teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles while Federico Infante and Donat Beke won at No. 2 doubles, 6-3.

In singles action, Chevez won in a tie-break at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6). Purizaca won 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Esteban Gutierrez was victorious at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Infante swept through his opponent at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Diego Infante won 6-1, 6-0. Beke picked up a forfeit win at No. 6.

Next up for the Tigers will be a trip to Kearney, Neb., where they will meet up with Colorado Mesa at 1 PM.
