Men's Tennis Downs Mount Marty in GPAC Opener

Doane Men's Tennis picked up a 6-1 victory in their conference opener against Mount Marty on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers and Lancers competed indoors in Yankton, S.D.

In doubles action, the Tigers started with a win from Diego Infante and Donat Beke, 6-0, at 3-doubles. The team earned the doubles point with a 6-0 win by Jose Purizaca and Esteban Gutierrez at 2-doubles. Doane posted a sweep of doubles play with a 6-4 win at 1-doubles by Jorge Chevez and Federico Infante.

Diego Infante picked up the first win in singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win at 5-singles. Gutierrez followed at 4-singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Doane clinched the match with a win by Chevez at 1-singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). Federico Infante posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at 3-singles and Beke won 6-3, 6-1, at 6-singles. The only match the Lancers won was at 2-singles in a highly competitive match that went to Mount Marty, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4.

Doane returns to the court on March 25 in Lincoln when they take on Nebraska Wesleyan.
