Men's Tennis Edged in Regular Season Finale
Doane Men's Tennis played their final match of the regular season on Sunday as they hosted Midland. The match between the top two teams in the GPAC was a close battle with the Warriors edging out the Tigers, 5-2.
Midland rallied in each of the doubles matches to earn the team point for an early 1-0 lead. Doane tied the match with a victory in singles play by Jorge Chevez. He recorded a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win at 1-singles. The Warriors took the next three singles matches to build a 4-1 lead, securing the team victory.
Doane picked up a win from Esteban Gutierrez at 4-singles. After dropping the first set, he rallied to win in a third-set tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).
The Tigers will be the No. 2 seed in the GPAC Tournament next weekend. Their opponent is to be determined following the morning session on the first day.
