Men's Tennis Sweeps Three Duals in Hastings
Men's Tennis opened dual action on Friday and Saturday at the Hastings Invite, taking on three opponents. The Tigers opened with a 6-1 win over Baker (Kan.) on Friday and followed with a 7-0 win over Tabor (Kan.) and a 6-1 win over Hastings in a non-conference match.
Esteban Gutierrez went 2-1 in his three singles matches, defeating the No. 1 singles players from Baker and Tabor. Jose Purizaca went 2-1 in his matches at No. 2 singles, defeating Tabor and Hastings. Federico Infante went 3-0 at No. 3 singles with Diego Infante going 2-0 at No. 4 singles against Baker and Hastings. Andre Hartman went 1-0 at No. 4 singles, defeating Tabor, and 2-0 at No. 5 singles with wins against Baker and Hastings. Elliott Dassel won his match at No. 5 singles against Tabor and won both matches at No. 6 singles against Baker and Hastings. Josh Grosvenor went 1-0, picking up a win at No. 6 singles against Tabor.
In doubles action, the Infante brothers went 2-1 at No. 1 with wins against Baker and Tabor. Gutierrez and Purizaca teamed up at No. 2 doubles and went 3-0. Hartman and Dassel went 3-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Next up for the Tigers will be a matchup against NCAA Division II William Jewell on October 14 in Crete. First serve is set for at 1:30, or as soon as teams are ready to start (warmup starts at 12:30).
