Men's Tennis Takes GPAC Opener from Mount Marty
Men's Tennis hosted Mount Marty on Sunday afternoon to open GPAC play. The Tigers picked up a 4-3 win.
In doubles play, the Tigers won all three matches to earn the team point. Federico Infante and Diego Infante teamed up for a 6-4 win at 1-doubles. Esteban Gutierrez and Jose Purizaca won 6-2 at 2-doubles while Andre Hartman and Elliot Dassel also won 6-2 at 3-doubles.
In singles action, Gutierrez had to battle through a swing of momentum in the opening set. He led 5-1 only to see his opponent take a 6-5 lead. Gutierrez came back to force a tie-break and went on to win the first set. He cruised in the second set, winning 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.
Purizaca also faced a swing in momentum before winning his match to clinch the team win. He won the first set, dropped the second set in a tie break, and then cruised to a win in the third, taking the match 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2.
Federico Infante posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at 3-singles as his match finished first during singles play.
The Tigers are back on the court tomorrow, April 8, when they host Baker at 3 PM in Crete.
