Purizaca Wins Marathon Match on Senior Day
Men's Tennis took on Northwestern on Saturday afternoon in Crete. After a tight doubles battle, the Red Raiders won five singles matches to claim a 6-1 win over the Tigers.
Doane won one of the three doubles matches. Andre Hartman and Elliot Dassel teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Northwestern claimed the team point by winning at No. 3 doubles in a tie-break.
The lone Tiger win in singles play came at No. 1 where Jose Purizaca defeated Jose Calderon. The two players battled for nearly two and a half hours as Purizaca outlasted Calderon, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Diego Infante also went three sets in his match at No. 2, falling 2-6, 6-2, 3-6.
Doane will take on Concordia on Wednesday, April 16, at 4 PM to close out the regular season.
