Hot Start for Men's Track and Field in 2023

Doane Men's Track and Field hosted the Ward Haylett Invitational on Saturday in Crete with Hastings and Iowa Western CC coming to town to compete against the Tigers. For the meet, Doane brought home 13 first place finishes out of 17 events.

JaDae Moore won the 60m dash with a NAIA provisional qualifying time of 6.89 seconds, a personal best time. Austin Drake was victorious in the 200m dash with a time of 22.62. Trace Ebert was the victor in the 400m dash with a time of 53.24. Dakota Miser posted a second place finish in the 600m run for Doane with a time of 1:29.66.

In the 800m run, Michael Grigsby led the way for the Tigers with a time of 2:04.13. Kalen Dockweiler ran a time of 2:34.94 to win the 1,000m run. Gavin Skorupa led the way in the mile run with a time of 4:49.27 to pick up a win while Thomas Oliver won the 3,000m run with a time of 8:56.27.

Zach Turner posted an NAIA automatic qualifying time of 8.05 to win the 60m hurdles. The men's 4x400m relay team of Drake, Joaquin Gutierrez, Caleb Mulder, and Turner won with a time of 3:26.79.

In the field events, Luke Partridge hit an automatic national qualifying mark in the weight throw with a toss of 17.15m (56-03.25). Zac Stieb had the Tigers top mark in the shot put with a throw of 14.43m (47-04.25) to place fourth overall.

Carter Reckling hit an automatic qualifying mark in the high jump as he cleared 2.04m (6-08.25) to place second overall. Mike Pulliam won the pole vault with a height of 4.35m (14-03.25).

Luke Davis was victorious for the Tigers in the long jump as he hit a mark of 6.78m (22-03.00). Vince Lauenroth won the triple jump with a leap of 13.48m (44-02.75).

Next up for the Tigers will be the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic on January 14 in Crete.
