Men's Track and Field Hits Big Marks at Polar Dog Invite

The Doane Men's Track and Field team competed at the Polar Dog Invite hosted by Concordia on Saturday. Tiger athletes hit four NAIA automatic national qualifying marks and two provisional marks.

On the track, Luke Davis posted the top mark for Doane in the 60m dash as he placed second in a time of 7.03. In the 200m dash, Rian Green had the top Tiger time of 23.61 to place sixth. In the 600m run, Logan Menke posted the fastest time as he placed fifth in 1:29.02. Will Wenz placed second in the 800m run with a time of 2:02.05.

In the 1000m run, Kalen Dockweiler placed second with a time of 2:32.01. His time meets the NAIA provisional qualifying time and is 10th on the NAIA charts. Thomas Oliver won the mile run with a time of 4:23.49. Luke Bonifas placed fourth in the 5000m with a time of 15:45.10. 

In the 60m hurdles, Jack Krejci placed second with a time of 8.57. The final racing event of the day was the 4x400m relay. Doane won with a time of 3:19.27, hitting the NAIA "A" standard to qualify for nationals. The track conversion time of 3:16.15 ranks fourth in the NAIA this year and was run by Austin Drake, Jordan Tasler, Joaquin Gutierrez, and Zach Turner.

In the field events, Logan Bietz placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.81m (5-11.25). Mike Pulliam placed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.50m (14-09).

Davis led the way in the long jump with a fourth place finish as he hit a mark of 6.62m (21-08.75). In the triple jump, Trevor Malone won with a leap of 14.30m (46-11.00) and hit the automatic national qualifying mark. Vince Lauenroth placed second and also met the automatic qualifying mark as he hit a mark of 14.26m (46-09.50). Malone and Lauenroth sit 19th and 20th, respectively, on the national chart.

Zac Stieb led the way in the shot put for Doane, placing fourth with a throw of 15.28m (50-01.75). His throw meets the NAIA provisionally qualifying standard and is 20th nationally. Luke Partridge met the automatic national qualifying mark once again in the weight throw, hitting a toss of 17.94m (58-10.25).

Doane returns home for their next meet as they host the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday, January 28.
