Men's Track and Field Excels in Final Home Meet
Doane Men's Track and Field hosted the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday inside Fuhrer Field House. The Tigers posted four automatic and seven provisional NAIA qualifying standards on the day. Doane picked up nine event wins on the day.
In the 60m dash, JaDae Moore raced to a time of 6.82 seconds to post a personal best and NAIA automatic qualifying time. His time is the third-fastest on the Doane record books. Austin Drake won the 200m dash with a time of 22.48 while Joaquin Gutierrez won the 400m with a time of 50.24.
In the 600m, Kingdon Hawes was victorious with a time of 1:23.39. Duncan Blankenship posted the top Tiger finish in the 800m with a time of 2:00.65 to place second. Jordan Kwiatkowski finished third in the 1000m run with a time of 2:46.38. Will Dawes placed eighth in the mile run with a time of 4:48.34.
Kalen Dockweiler won the 3000m run with a NAIA provisional time of 8:41.01. Thomas Oliver added a provisional time of 8:42.11 to place second in the race. Zach Turner was victorious in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.12 second, a time that meets the automatic qualifying standard. Doane won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:25.08. Running for the Tigers was Drake, Caleb Mulder, Gutierrez, and Andrew Mahoney.
In the men's high jump, Dylan Starr met the provisional qualifying standard as he cleared 2.01m (6-07.00) to win the event. Mike Pulliam finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.40m (14-05.25).
Jack Krejci took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.49m (21-03.50). Sam Boldt took second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.48m (44-02.75).
In the shot put, Matthew Campbell finished in second with a throw of 15.52m (50-11.00) to meet the NAIA provisional standard. In the weight throw, he won with a top toss of 20.21m (66-03.75) to increase his NAIA-leading mark. Luke Partridge placed third and met the NAIA automatic standard with a throw of 17.73m (58-02.00). Trey Dickey placed fourth with a mark of 16.60m (54-05.50) and Jaedon Lothrop was fifth with a mark of 16.58m (54-04.75), both meeting the provisional qualifying distance.
The Concordia Classic is next up for the Tigers on Friday, February 3 in Seward.
