Campbell Named GPAC Field Athlete of the Week

Doane Men's Track and Field athlete Matthew Campbell has been tabbed this week's Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Fred Beile Classic on January 28. The honor is his first of the season and fifth of his career.

On Saturday, Campbell won the men's weight throw with a top mark of 20.21m (66-03.75). The mark improved his NAIA-leading mark. The two-time reigning national champion holds the top mark in the NAIA by two feet, four inches.

He also improved his standings nationally in the shot put with a throw of 15.52m (50-11). He moved up to 17th on the national chart with his NAIA provisional qualifying throw.

Doane returns to action on Friday, February 3, at the Concordia Classic in Seward, Nebraska.
