Track and Field Hosts Small Combined Events Meet
Doane Track and Field hosted the Shadow Seeker Groundhog Combined Events on Thursday and Friday in Crete. The Tigers had two women and three men post scores in the meet.
In the women's pentathlon, Lindsay Adams won with a score of 3,486 points. Her point total moved her into a tie for third nationally and into second on the GPAC performance list this year. Adams started the day by meeting the NAIA provisional qualifying time in the 60m hurdles as she was clocked in 9.09 seconds, 0.04 off her season best time. Karlee Henning moved into 18th place on the NAIA charts with a score of 2,033 points. Her top scores came in the long jump and shot put.
In the men's heptathlon, Zach Fye won with 4,471 points. He was one point off his season-best mark to open the season. After the first day, Fye had recorded 2,593 points through four events. His top point total came in the 1,000m run where he scored 746 points. Jack Krejci finished in second place with 4,440 points as he moved into fourth in the GPAC standings. Devin Jepson posted 4,038 points to finish fourth overall and he sits in ninth on the GPAC performance chart.
Tiger athletes will continue the extended weekend of action on Friday and Saturday. The majority of Doane athletes will compete at the Concordia Classic in Seward on Friday with three athletes competing at the Frank Sevigne Husker Classic in Lincoln on Friday and/or Saturday.
