Men's Track and Field Competes at Concordia Classic

Doane Men's Track and Field posted four wins and hit eight NAIA qualifying standards on Friday at the Concordia Classic in Seward. The Tigers had 26 new or improved marks on the GPAC Top 50 performance list following the meet.

The 4x400m relay team of Austin Drake, Kingdon Hawes, Joaquin Gutierrez, and Zach Turner ran a time of 3:19.61 and with the track conversion time, they met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard once again this year. In the 60m hurdles, Ashton Sagehorn was the top Tiger finisher with a 15th place finish and time of 9.49.

Luke Bonifas won the 5000m run with a time of 15:35.79. Kalen Dockweiler met the NAIA provisional qualifying standard in the 3000m run with a time of 8:39.28 as he finished second overall. In the mile run, Jeremiah Arndt finished in 15th place with a time of 4:50.82.

In the 1000m run, Michael Grigsby led the Tigers with a fourth place finish and time of 2:40.39. Will Wenz recorded the fastest Tiger time in the 800m, placing sixth with a time of 2:02.33. Hawes won the 600m run with a time of 1:23.12.

Hitting a NAIA provisional qualifying standard following the track conversion time in the 400m dash was Gutierrez. His time of 49.54 was good for second place. Andrew Mahoney won the 200m dash, which consisted of 46 runners, with a time of 22.42. Emmett Black placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.98.

The weight throw saw three Tigers meet a NAIA standard. Luke Partridge placed second with a throw of 17.90m (58-08.75) and Jaedon Lothrop finished fourth with a toss of 17.55m (57-07.00), both meeting the automatic qualifying standard. For Lothrop, it was a personal best mark and moved him into 11th nationally. Trey Dickey met the provisional standard with a throw of 16.80m (55-01.50) and placed seventh.

Zac Stieb had the top finish for Doane in the shot put with a mark of 15.24m (50-00.00) to place fourth. Vince Lauenroth won the triple jump with a mark of 14.08m (46-02.50) to meet the NAIA provisional standard. He also had Doane's top mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.51m (21-04.25).

In the pole vault, Mike Pulliam finished fifth with a clearance of 4.60m (15-01.00). Dylan Starr placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.96m (6-05.00).

Doane returns to Seward next week for the Concordia Invitational on February 10.
