Tiger Trio Showcased at Husker Invitational
Doane Track and Field was represented by three athletes at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers sent Annika Pingel, JaDae Moore, and Zach Turner to the Devaney Center.
Moore and Turner were in action on Friday in the prelims of the 60m dash and 60m hurdles, respectively. Moore posted a time of 6.93 and placed 17th overall out of 31 runners. He is currently 13th on the NAIA national performance list with his time of 6.82 set last week at the Fred Beile Classic.
Turner finished second in his heat with a time of 7.92 seconds and advanced to the finals on Saturday with the fourth fastest-time of the event. On Saturday, he took to the starting blocks to open the afternoon session and for the third time this season on the Devaney track, he ran a sub-8.00 race.
In January, Turner set the school record with a time of 7.91 and barely missed the mark again in Friday's race. On Saturday, he would break his mark set three weeks earlier as he posted a time of 7.90 to finish fourth overall. He is currently third on the NAIA performance list.
Also on Saturday, Annika Pingel took the track in the women's 800m. Through 400m, Pingel was in fifth place but began to make her move as the front of the pack picked up the pace. On the back stretch of the final lap, she moved into third and would cross the finish line in a personal best time of 2:14.31, the second-fastest time in school history. Her time also moved her to fifth on the NAIA performance list.
