Track and Field Finishes in Top 15 at NAIA Championships

Doane Track and Field closed out the 2023 NAIA Indoor Championships on Saturday with several All-American honors earned. The Tiger men finished 6th overall with the women placing 12th overall.

In women's action, Allison Skala placed second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 14.46m (47-05.25). Alivia Baucom added a fifth place finish with a personal-best throw of 14.17m (46-06.00). Both hit the marks on their final throw of the event.

In the 800m run, Annika Pingel placed fifth with a personal-best time of 2:13.36. She pushed the team point total to 20 points to finish 12th out of 55 teams that scored points.

For the men, Zach Turner posted a second place finish in the 60m hurdles. He tied his school record time of 7.90, finishing 0.05 out of first place in a photo finish.

The 4x400m relay team of Turner, Austin Drake, Caleb Mulder, and Joaquin Gutierrez ran a time of 3:16.61 to place eighth. The men finished with 30 team points to tie for 6th with Marian (Ind.) out of 64 programs that scored team points.

The men also had four additional competitors in the field events. Zac Stieb finished 17th with a throw of 15.13m (49-07.75) in the shot put. Mike Pulliam placed 13th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.75m (15-07.00).

In the triple jump, Vince Lauenroth placed 22nd with a mark of 13.73m (45-00.50). Trevor Malone did not hit a mark.
