Schmitz Tabbed NAIA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Andrew Schmitz has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend at the Ward Haylett Invite. This marks the second straight year a Doane thrower has received the honor after a five-year stretch with the honor bestowed to a Tiger.

Schmitz hit a personal best throw of 18.01m (59-01.25) in winning the weight throw to qualify for the NAIA National Championships in March. His throw currently ranks seventh in the NAIA. He added a third place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.69m (48-02.50).

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, January 13, when they host the Scott Nisely Memorial Track Classic. Field events are scheduled to start at 11 AM with running events scheduled to start at 12 PM (noon).
