Turner, Pribyl Earn GPAC Honors
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) have announced this week's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, presented by Hauff Mid-America Sports. Receiving the Men's Track honor was Zach Turner for the second consecutive week. It marks the eighth time he has received the indoor honor during his career. Kaylee Pribyl was named to the Women's Field honor, marking the first of her young career.
Turner, a senior from Crete, posted a time of 7.96 in the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles, marking the first time this season an NAIA athlete has run a sub-8 second time. In the finals, he raced to a time of 7.90, tying his school record time and solidifying his spot atop the NAIA performance chart.
Pribyl, a freshman from Western, cleared 3.70m (12-01.50) in the pole vault, moving into third on the NAIA performance chart this season. Three of the Top 4 marks in the NAIA this season have been by freshmen. Her clearance ranks fourth-best on the Doane all-time indoor chart.
Doane athletes will compete at the Polar Dog Invite hosted by Concordia (January 19) or the Prairie Wolf Invite hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan (January 19-20) this weekend.
