Men's Track and Field Competes at Bulldog Early Bird

SEWARD, Neb. - Doane Women's Track and Field got the full slate of events started on Saturday at the Bulldog Early Bird meet. After hosting the Happy Holiday Combined Events last weekend, the rest of the Tiger athletes were able to get in action before the holiday break.

In the field events, Peyton Herrick won the high jump based on attempts with a clearance of 1.94m (6-04.25). Teammate Maddox Wagoner also cleared 1.94m, placing third. Roe Patton placed second in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.30m (14-01.25).

Wagoner won the long jump with a mark of 7.08m (23-02.75), hitting the mark on his first jump of the finals (fourth overall). Mason Bahm placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 14.38m (47-02.25).

Christopher Brown and Cale Bessler each met the NAIA provisional qualifying standard for nationals in the shot put. Brown placed second with a mark of 16.32m (53-06.50) and Bessler placed third with a throw of 16.28m (53-05.00). In the weight throw, Andrew Schmitz and Jaden Vollenweider also hit provisional qualifying throws. Schmitz placed second with a throw of 17.80m (58-04.75) and Vollenweider placed fourth with a mark of 17.49m (57-04.75).

On the track, Connor Bradley paced the Tigers in the 60m dash with a seventh place finish and time of 7.05. Orion Ulmer placed 20th in the 200m with a time of 23.31. Jonathan Zoubek took 12th in the 400m with a time of 52.35.

In the 600m, Lucas Gautier placed 11th with a time of 1:26.97. Luke Bonifas was third in the 1000m, posting a time of 2:39.02. Kale Maguire took 19th in the 3,000m, finishing in 9:48.58.

Addison Croghan took ninth in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 8.63. The team of Bradley, Lincoln Konrad, Zoubek, and Caleb Mulder ran a time of 3:25.41 to place fifth in the 4x400m relay. 

Doane will return to the track in 2026 when they host the Ward Haylett Invite on January 10.
