LINCOLN, Neb. — Doane men's track and field turned in a handful of standout efforts against deep NCAA and NAIA competition at the 50th Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, held Feb. 6-7 at the Nebraska-Devaney Center.

The headline moment came in the men's 5,000 meters, where Alvin Keter delivered a breakthrough performance to win the event in 14:56.79, leading a quality showing from the Tiger distance group.

Doane also logged multiple top-12 finishes on the track. Porter Bickley placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (8:26.92), with Jayden Wall right behind in 10th (8:40.04). Michael Grigsby doubled back to finish ninth in the mile (4:16.32) and added a 12th-place run in the 3,000 (8:47.37).

In the horizontal jumps, Brian Cech paced the Tigers in the long jump by finishing fifth with a mark of 6.84 meters (22-5.25) in a stacked field. Doane added depth with Michael Willey (6.47m/21-2.75), Mason Bahm (6.47m/21-2.75), Asher Watson (6.43m/21-1.25) and Callan McKinney (6.29m/20-7.75) all recording solid efforts.

The throws group continued to show progress, highlighted by Jaden Vollenweider's 17.93 meters (58-10) in the weight throw, which earned NAIA "B" consideration while placing ninth overall. Andrew Schmitz added a 12th-place finish in the same event with a toss of 16.99 meters (55-9).
