Dockweiler Closing in on Men's Track & Field School Record
It was an expanded weekend of action on the Doane campus as the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic was moved back one day and concluded on Sunday evening in Crete. The meet started with the John Green Combined Events on Thursday and Friday as well as the men's and women's discus competition on Thursday. The remainder of the meet finished up on Sunday.
Austin Drake led the Tigers in the 100m and 200m dashes with a pair of Top 10 finishes. He took second in the 100m with a time of 10.94 while finishing sixth in the 200m with a time of 22.39. Kingdon Hawes finished fourth in the 400m with a time of 49.18.
In the 800m run, Jordan Tasler led the Tigers with a time of 1:58.13 to place 12th overall. Ryan Evans collected an eighth place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:12.65. Jakob Tadlock placed fifth in the 10,000m run with a time of 34:38.40.
Kalen Dockweiler won the 3000m steeplechase with the second fastest time in the NAIA this season. He ran a time of 9:14.11, finishing 0:00.08 off the 1985 school record. Jack Krejci had the top time for Doane in both hurdles races. In the 110m hurdles, he ran a time of 15.34 and finished fourth. In the 400m hurdles, he circled the track in 56.59 to place fourth.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Drake, Hawes, Tasler, and Caleb Mulder finished second with a time of 3:19.55. The 4x800m relay team of Dakota Miser, Logan Menke, Jordan Kwiatkowski, and Jake Parsley ran a time of 8:32.06.
Carter Reckling placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 2.05m (6-08.75). Branson McDonald took third in the pole vault with a height of 4.45m (14-07.25).
In the long jump, Nolan Mayer finished sixth with a mark of 21-03.25. Vince Lauenroth took second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.87m (45-06.25).
Zac Stieb hit a throw of 15.32m (50-03.25) to place fifth in the shot put. Trey Dickey had a mark of 45.52m (149-04) to place fifth in the discus.
Luke Partridge took second in the hammer throw with a toss of 59.65m (195-08). Mason Krause joined a short list of Tigers who have hit a throw of 60 meters in the javelin as he took second with a throw of 60.48m (198-05). He is the sixth Tiger to hit a throw of 60 meters and posted the eighth best throw in the NAIA this season.
In the decathlon, Devin Jepson had the top Tiger finish as he placed eighth with a total point total of 5085.
Next up for the Tiger athletes will be the Prairie Wolf Invitational on April 28-29 and/or the Drake Relays on April 27-29.
