Men's Track and Field Hits Season Best Marks at Prairie Wolf Invite

Doane Men's Track and Field competed in the NWU Prairie Wolf Invitational in their final tune-up for the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championships next week. Scoring was awarded to the Top 4 finishes and Doane came away with the team title as they collected 48.5 points. Nebraska Wesleyan finished second with 29 points and Nebraska recorded 24 points to take third.

In the 100m dash, Chris Vincent placed fifth with a season-best time of 10.82. JaDae Moore ran a season-best time of 21.94 in the 200m to place fourth. In the 400m, Ivan Varela placed fifth with a time of 51.63. 

Kingdon Hawes placed third in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.31. Kalen Dockweiler won the 1500m with a time of 4:01.05. Thomas Oliver took second in the 5000m with a season-best time of 15:45.36. John Krejci finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.14 and placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.65.

The 4x100m relay team of Moore, Vincent, Andrew Mahoney, and Austin Drake posted a winning time of 41.85. In the 4x400m relay, the squad of Drake, Hawes, Caleb Mulder, and Joaquin Gutierrez ran a time of 3:20.44 to post the winning time.

Carter Reckling finished second in the high jump with an NAIA provisional qualifying mark of 2.05m (6-08.75). Drew Garrison hit a season-best mark in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.99m (13-01.00) to place eighth. In the long jump, Carson Shoemaker hit a season-best mark of 6.45m (21-02.00) and placed sixth. Sam Boldt added a season-best in the triple jump to place second with a leap of 1392m (45-08.00).

In the shot put, Andrew Schmitz recorded a season-best throw of 15.24m (50-00.00) as he placed fourth. Jaedon Lothrop hit a throw of 47.19m (154-10), a season-best, in the discus to place second. Luke Partridge met the NAIA provisional standard in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.27m (181-04) and placed third. Schmitz also hit a provisional qualifying throw with a mark of 55.00 (180-05) to finish fourth. Bryant Jeary won the javelin with a throw of 48.92m (160-06).

Doane will compete in the GPAC Championships on May 5-6 in Sioux Center, Iowa, at Dordt University.
