Track and Field Set to Compete at Nationals

Doane Track and Field will head to Marion, Indiana, for the 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. IWU last hosted the national championship event from 2010-13. In the last national meet hosted by the Wildcats in 2013, the Tiger men finished third and the women finished fifth.

This year, Doane will take a squad of 15 men and nine women to compete over the three-day meet from May 24-26.

On the men's side, Kalen Dockweiler takes the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season into the meet. He enters with a season-best time of 9:07.89. He will be joined by Thomas Oliver in the race. Oliver is ranked 15th nationally with a time of 9:22.94.

Also on the track, the 4x100m and 4x400m men's relay teams will compete. In the 4x100m relay, the team of JaDae Moore, Chris Vincent, Andrew Mahoney, and Austin Drake enter with the 15th-best time in the NAIA with a mark of 40.91. Dalton Whisenhunt will be an alternate for the team.  The 4x400m relay team of Drake, Kingdon Hawes, Caleb Mulder, and Joaquin Gutierrez have a time of 3:16.38 this season, 14th fastest in the NAIA.

In the field events, Luke Partridge ranks sixth in the NAIA in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 61.14m (200-07). Andrew Schmitz ranks 15th in the event with a top throw of 55.51m (182-01) this season. Schmitz will also compete in the shot put where he ranks 29th among the entrants in the meet with a throw of 15.39m (50-06.00).

Carter Reckling is tied for fourth in the NAIA this year in the high jump as he takes a top mark of 2.08m (6-09.75). Mike Pulliam is tied for 17th entering the meet in the pole vault. He has a top height of 4.70m (15-05.00).

Mason Krause ranks eighth in the javelin entering the meet. He has a season-best throw of 62.10m (203-09).

For the women, Macy Fuller enters the meet sitting fourth overall in the hammer throw with a top mark of 55.38m (181-08). Alivia Baucom will compete in two throws events for the Tigers. In the shot put, she ranks fourth with a throw of 14.44m (47-04.50). Baucom is 27th in the discus with a top mark of 43.10m (141-05).

Josie Garrett will compete in two events as well. She ranks 18th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.69m (38-04.25). In the high jump, she enters tied for 11th with a clearance of 1.65m (5-05.00). Kennedy Stanley will compete in the pole vault. She has a top mark of 3.55m (11-07.75), tied for 16th entering the meet.

Annika Pingel will compete in the 800m run. She posted a time of 2:14.63 earlier this year and is 16th entering the meet. She will also run a leg of the 4x100m relay, teaming up with Isabel Bothwell, Morgan Mahoney, and Caitlyn Cotton. They have posted a time of 47.68 this season, sitting 29th among the teams competing this year. Abby Fontana will be an alternate for the Tigers.

Partridge will be the first to compete for the men with the hammer throw starting on Wednesday at 11:30 AM while Stanley will be the first to compete for the women as the pole vault starts at 12:00 PM.
