Dockweiler Named First Team Academic All-American

Doane Men's Track & Field athlete Kalen Dockweiler was honored on Thursday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as he was named a First Team Academic All-American for the Men's Cross Country/Track & Field division. He is the first men's team member to earn First Team honors since 2013 when two Tiger track and field athletes were recognized.

Dockweiler capped his 2023 season in May with a second place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NAIA National Championships. He ran a school record time of 9:04.98, topping the mark he had set three weeks earlier at the GPAC Championships.

This past season, Dockweiler was a six-time All-GPAC performer between the indoor and outdoor seasons. He placed in the Top 8 of the indoor meet in the 1000m, mile, and 3000m runs. During the outdoor season, he placed in the 1500m and 3,000m steeplechase while also running a leg for the championship 4x800m relay team.

Dockweiler is just the fourth men's track and field/cross country athlete to earn First Team Academic All-American honors, joining Micah Marvin (2012), Brad Higgins (2013), and Vince Krejci (2013).
