Men's Track and Field Rolls Past NWU
Men's Track and Field posted their fourth largest margin of victory over Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday afternoon in the annual Doane/NWU dual. This year's event took place in Lincoln with the Tigers posting a 117-67 win over the Prairie Wolves. Doane won all but two events on the day.
On the track, JaDae Moore won the 100m dash with a time of 10.88. Connor Bradley won the 200m with a time of 21.69. Joaquin Gutierrez won the 400m with an NAIA automatic qualifying time of 47.73, currently 12th-fastest in the NAIA this season.
Emmanuel Yego won the 800m with a time of 1:55.50. Thomas Oliver took the 1500m crown with a time of 4:10.86. Nelson Ruto won the 5000m in a time of 15:22.65.
Zach Turner claimed the 110m hurdles title with a time of 13.98, meeting the NAIA automatic standard. He also won the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.09, an NAIA automatic qualifying time that is currently second in the NAIA this season.
The 4x400m relay team of Gutierrez, Chris Vincent, Caleb Mulder, and Turner ran a time of 3:15.00 to post an NAIA automatic qualifying time for nationals and currently ranks 10th in the NAIA.
In the field events, Dylan Starr won the high jump with an NAIA automatic qualifying height of 2.07m (6-09.50). Mike Pulliam won the pole vault with a mark of 4.25m (13-11.25). Michael Willey took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.51m (21-04.25). Trevor Malone won the triple jump with a leap of 13.67m (44-10.25).
Tad Dimmitt took second in the shot put with a mark of 14.58m (47-10.00). Trey Dickey hit an NAIA provisional qualifying mark in the discus with a throw of 48.05m (157-08) to win the event. He also won the hammer throw with a mark of 54.58m (179-01), an NAIA automatic qualifying mark. Mason Crumbliss won the javelin with a throw of 52.07m (170-10).
Next up for the Tigers will be the Jim Dutcher Classic and the John Green Combined Events at home, April 18-20.
