Gutierrez Named GPAC Track Athlete of the Week

Men's Track and Field athlete Joaquin Gutierrez has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week after his performance at the Doane/Nebraska Wesleyan Dual in Lincoln last Friday.

In the 400m dash, Gutierrez ran an NAIA national qualifying time of 47.73, second-fastest in the GPAC and 16th in the NAIA. He ran the lead leg of the 4x400m relay team as well, helping the Tigers to a national qualifying time with a mark of 3:15.00. The relay team has the second-fastest time in the GPAC and 12th-fastest in the NAIA.

In addition to the 400m and 4x400m relay team, Gutierrez has run on the 4x100m relay team this year. The 4x100 squad has a season-best time of 41.67, fourth-best in the GPAC.

Gutierrez and his Doane teammates will host their lone home meet of the outdoor season with the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic on April 18-20. As part of the meet, the John Green Combined Events will be held on April 18-19.
