Men's Track & Field Takes Second at GPAC

Men's Track and Field took second place at the GPAC Championships following the conclusion of the event on Saturday in Orange City, Iowa. The Tigers finished with 162 points, finishing behind Dordt's 185 points.

Athletes earned All-GPAC honors with a Top 8 finish in an individual event and a Top 3 finish in a relay.

In the 100m, Connor Bradley took sixth with a time of 10.75. Joaquin Gutierrez finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 48.96. Emmanuel Yego took fifth place in the 800m with a time of 1:56.14. Michael Grigsby and Will Dawes placed in the 1500m. Grigsby ran a time of 4:06.10 to place seventh and Dawes finished eighth with a time of 4:07.81.

Thomas Oliver won the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 9:16.57 with Yego placing fourth in a time of 9:43.63. Nelson Ruto earned a pair of second place finishes. In the 5000m, he ran a time of 15:02.74 and in the 10,000m he ran a time of 31:49.38.

Zach Turner won the 110m hurdles in a school record and GPAC record time of 13.79. Sander Zutterman took fifth in a time of 15.50 while Zach Fox placed seventh in a time of 15.63 and Andrew Harms was eighth in a time of 15.96. Turner won the 400m hurdles in a time of 52.02 with Fox finishing fifth in a time of 55.98.

The 4x100m relay team took third in a time of 41.55. Running for the Tigers were Bradley, JaDae Moore, Chris Vincent, and Andrew Mahoney. The 4x800m relay team of Eli Marez, Grigsby, Nate O'Brien, and Yego placed second in a time of 7:47.33.

In the triple jump, Vince Lauenroth took second with a leap of 14.09m/46-02.75 while Trevor Malone took fourth with a mark of 13.63m/44-08.75. In the high jump, Carter Reckling placed fifth with a clearance of 1.97m/6-05.50. Peyton Herrick took seventh with a height of 1.92m/6-03.50. Mike Pulliam took fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55m/14-11.00 and Drew Garrison was sixth with a clearance of 4.40m/14-05.25.

In the shot put, Cale Bessler hit a throw of 15.54m/51-00.00 on his last throw to finish fourth. Jonathan Borges took fifth with a mark of 15.16m/49-09.00 and Colton Dillon finished in sixth with a throw of 15.00m/49-02.50. Trey Dickey took third in the discus with a throw of 50.37m/165-03. In the javelin, Mason Crumbliss took third with a toss of 58.08m/190-07 and Jaedon Lothrop finished eighth with a mark of 50.22m/164-09.

In the decathlon, Harms placed second with 6,159 points and Addison Croghan finished third with 6,010 points. Mason Zimmerman placed seventh with 5,601 points and Devin Jepson was eighth with 5,533 points.

Next up for the Tigers will be the Concordia Twilight on Friday, May 10, in Seward.
