Men's Track and Field Competes in Dutcher Memorial Classic

Men's Track and Field hosted the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic and John Green Combined Events over three days from Wednesday to Friday in Crete. The first two days of the meet featured warm weather topping out in the high 80s while the final day managed to feel like the mid-40s with wind chills.

The decathlon started off the meet for the men over the first two days. Andrew Harms led the Tigers with a third place finish and 6,350 points. His point total moves him into 11th in the NAIA this season.

On day two, the hammer throw and javelin took place. Trey Dickey won the hammer throw with a mark of 55.72m (182-10), meeting the NAIA provisional standard. Andrew Schmitz took third with a mark of 54.83m (179-11), also meeting the provisional standard. In the javelin, Mason Crumbless took third with a throw of 51.89m (170-03).

Day three on Friday saw the majority of the field events moved inside due to the weather. Dylan Starr won the high jump with a mark of 2.12m (6-11.50). Ashton Pulliam tied for second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.75m (12-03.50).

Michael Willey won the long jump with a leap of 6.63m (21-09.00). Kyler Nichols won the triple jump with a mark of 13.83m (45-04.50).

Outside in the shot put, Colton Dillon placed fifth with a mark of 15.34m (50-04.00). Trey Dickey finished second in the discus with a mark of 50.94m (167-01).

On the track, Zach Turner posted the fastest times in the NAIA for both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. He won the 110m hurdles in a time of 13.72 and then broke the school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.05.

JaDae Moore won the 100m dash in a time of 10.79. Joaquin Gutierrez won the 200m and 400m races. In the 200m, he ran a time of 22.31. He posted a time of 48.88 in the 400m.

In the 800m, Michael Grigsby won with a time of 1:57.66. Will Dawes took fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:13.89. Nelson Ruto won the 10,000m run with a time of 31:55.08. Joseph Seifferlein took third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:17.57.

The 4x400m relay team of Grigsby, Luke Bonifas, Dawes, and Nate O'Brien won in a time of 3:34.00.

Next up for the Tigers will be the Prairie Wolf Invitational on April 24 in Lincoln.
