Men's Wrestling Collects 36 Wins in Kearney

Doane Men's Wrestling traveled 17 athletes to the Nebraska-Kearney Younes Hospitality Open in Kearney. The Tigers picked up 36 wins on the day.

Four Tigers competed in the 125 division with Hunter Bennett leading the way with a 5-1 record. Landon Stocks went 2-2 while Russell Nickerson posted a 1-2 mark. Arian Alai was 0-2 as he was matched up with a pair of NCAA Division II wrestlers.

In the 133 division, Roberto Cordova and Tristen Brown each posted 2-2 records. In the 141 division, Ben Miller went 5-1 as he reached the match limit on the day. Mario Evans went 0-2. In the 149 division, Quentyn Frank went 1-2 as he picked up a pin for his victory.

Cooper Spaulding and Arturo Salinas competed at 165 and each wrestler picked up four wins. Austin Filliez was the lone Tiger wrestler at 174 and he went 1-2, pinning Hastings' Keenan Griffin. Three Tigers were in action at 184 with Chase Stieb setting the pace with a 3-2 mark. Terungwa Unongo picked up an overtime victory to go 1-2 on the day while Zaire Ridley was 0-2.

In the heavyweight division, Guillermo Duenas went 5-2 on the day, getting an extra match on his record as he received a medical forfeit win late in the day. He won three of his matches by decision following a pin in the opening match of the day. Joseph Schutt went 0-2 on the day.

Next up for the Tigers will be the first GPAC Duals of the season, hosted in Sioux City, Iowa, on November 22. Doane will take on Northwestern and Briar Cliff.
