Lendt Named GPAC Wrestler of the Week
Doane wrestler Nate Lendt has been named the GPAC Wrestler of the Week after his performance during the week of November 28-December 4. This is the first time that Lendt has received the honor.
Lendt competed in the Conner/Oppenheim Doane Open, earning runner-up honors in the 149 division as he went 3-1 on the day. He ran through the gauntlet of wrestlers from NAIA No. 1 Grand View, facing four Vikings wrestlers.
The day opened with Lendt pinning Sam Kallem in 1:04. His second match came against Blake Haney where Lendt picked up a 10-3 victory. In the semifinals, he defeated Jack Latimer by an 11-5 decision. The final match needed extra time to decide a winner. Blake Gonzalez was able to secure a takedown in overtime to win 3-1 in the championship over Lendt.
Doane returns to action on Thursday, December 8, when they host Midland (Neb.) in their first home dual of the season. Start time is scheduled for 7 PM.
