Men's Wrestling Rolls in Win over Dakota Wesleyan

Doane Men's Wrestling hooked up with Dakota Wesleyan in the second match of the day at the GPAC Duals on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa. Doane was victorious over their fellow Tigers, 45-3, as they picked up their 17th win of the season and 23rd straight conference dual win. 

Daniel Vargas opened the action at 125 with a 22-5 tech fall win in 4:20 over Will Farren. He led 14-4 after the first period. In the 133 battle, the match between Devin Avedissian and Temuujin Natsagdorj was scoreless after the first period. Avedissian would post eight points in each of the final two periods to pick up a 16-0 tech fall win at 6:15.

Baagii Boldmaa collected a 25-10 tech fall win at 7:00 over Zach Zitek. He led 6-2 after the first period and 16-7 after the second period. He built a 24-10 lead as time concluded but held riding time to earn an extra point. Nate Lendt received a forfeit win at 149.

Tristan Zamilpa picked up an 8-3 decision over Tyson Johnson at 157. He led 2-1 after the first and 4-3 after the second period. Zamilpa recorded an escape, a takedown, and earned a penalty point in the final period. The lone DWU win came at 165 where Cooper Spaulding was defeated by Kaleb Bigelow, 10-3.

Doane received forfeit wins at 174 for Chinges Tsermaa and at 184 for Cael Jordan. Garrett Cornwell defeated Colten Hink at 197 by decision, 11-4. He led 4-1 after the first and 6-3 after the second period. He added two takedowns and riding time to snag his final points in the third period. Brandon Antesberger closed out the match with a pin at 1:58 over Cole Hennings. He led 8-0 at the time of the pin.

Doane closes out the GPAC Duals with a match against Morningside with the GPAC regular season crown on the line.
